The interior has been stripped down from when this premises was an identikit sandwich shop, exposing bare bricks along the length of the wall behind the counter. Seating resembles wooden crates running opposite the counter with a few tables and a small alcove to the rear, functional if not entirely comfortable, though it fits the aesthetic rather nicely. Staff are very friendly and approachable.
The focus is on coffee, of course, with beans coming from Square Mile Coffee Roasters, and flair behind the coffee machine ensures that the now-familiar range of flat whites and long blacks (in addition to the usual staples) are delivered with a hefty caffeine kick and attractive presentation. Prices are a bit higher than other outlets in the area (£2 for a takeaway double espresso, a bit more for cappuccino or latte).
There's also a small range of breakfast food in the morning, such as a tasty yoghurt with granola and raspberry compote photo, or a range of pastries, as well as filled croissants (one with bacon and poached egg, another with ham and taleggio cheese, both tasty). They also do lunchtime food which Ewan hasn't yet sampled.
Ewan's verdict: Another fine addition to an expanding range of good coffee outlets in the capital.
