Craft beer pub in Covent Garden, part of a small chain.
It's a small, narrow space, perched on the corner of a busy intersection. Inside, the bar stretches along one wall, with standing space around it and tall stools lining the window ledge opposite. Floors are worn varnished boards, walls are a mix of wood panelling and glazed bricks, and the ceiling has an unusual finish consisting of small square mirrors in a wooden framework. Down in the basement is more seating, this time a mix of banquettes and normal-height chairs and stools.
Kake visited on a Thursday lunchtime in October 2018. There were just three other customers when I arrived around 1pm, but several more turned up while I was there, and by 1:30pm it was quite lively though still with plenty of spare seats. Music was playing, possibly a touch louder than ideal given the level of conversation. Service was welcoming and helpful.
All but one of the fifteen handpumps were on, offering one real cider plus thirteen real ales ranging from stouts to pale ales. A half of Siren Broken Dream was £2.80, and in fine condition.
According to the Craft Beer Co website as of October 2018, food is served 4pm-11pm Mon-Thu, noon-11pm Fri-Sat, and 4pm-11pm Sun. It consists mainly of burgers and chicken wings.
Accessibility: A step to get in. Toilets are down a narrow flight of stairs with a bend in the middle and a hard-to-grasp handrail. All the seating on the ground floor is on high stools, but staff on our October 2018 visit were happy to bring a chair up from the basement (however this may not be possible when the place is busy).
