Young's pub in Surbiton, in the Good Beer Guide.
The interior clearly used to have three separate rooms, but the divisions between have now been opened out; in one case, the opportunity has been taken to either retain or install some rather nice wood-and-glass screening to improve light flow while retaining the idea of separation.
Entry from the side road is into a bar area with flagstone floor and high seating. Further in is a carpeted area situated right on the corner of the junction; this has some nice bay-style leaded windows on two sides with stained glass detailing, plus a recessed exit to the main road. A couple of steps lead up from here to another seating area with vintage photos on the walls and standard upright chairs and tables topped with fresh flowers in small vases.
Kake visited on a Tuesday afternoon in September 2019. There were three other customers when I arrived a little before 2:30pm, one of them working on a laptop. Music was playing, not too loud, and relatively interesting.
The handpumps were clipped for Surrey Hills Ranmore (£2.25/half) and Timothy Taylor Landlord, with a Young's Ordinary (or whatever they call it now) clip turned round.
Service was friendly and helpful. I was after their regular food serving hours, but when I asked about the menu options they very kindly offered to call one of the chefs to come in and cook for me (I declined since I don't love burgers enough to disturb someone on their break).
Accessibility: A step and then another step to get in from the side road, and another step from there to the carpeted area. (A larger single step from the main road to the carpeted area.) Two more steps from the carpeted area to the remaining seating and the toilets.
