The information below is retained for people who want to know what it used to be like.

Lovely restaurant in Leytonstone advertising "South & North Indian Country Cuisine" - mostly vegetarian, but apparently the meat is also extremely tasty. It's run by Hindi-speaking Indians, and decorated suitably but not gaudily. The lighting and acoustics are extremely good.

Vegetarian mains run around £4 (as of late 2008), and accompaniments such as rice, naan, dosa, idiappam, chapatti, poori, or paratha from around £2. They do a very good filling (and cheap) lunch platter as well.

They offer takeaway and delivery, and you can order online from Hungry House.
