The depot for the London Transport Museum, opposite Acton Town Station. The Depot is only open a couple of times a year to the public, usually for a Saturday and Sunday from 11am-5pm (in March 2008, entry was £8.00 for adults). These open weekends tend to be themed, and for example in March 2008 they were based around model train sets. The themes are usually aimed at being family-friendly, though there are of course many exhibits of interest to transport-lovers without children. The Depot contains most of the rest of the Museum's collections which are not on display at the main site in Covent Garden. This includes not only old tube stock, vintage trams and buses, and pieces of machinery, but also scale architects' models for the stations, signage of all types used by London Transport, old photographs and posters, and other records. There is a small shop and usually stalls around the Depot for collectors to sell old magazines, booklets, timetables and maps, as well as model train paraphernalia. <div class="last_verified">Last visited by Ewan, 9 March 2008.
