Jashan was a vegetarian Indian restaurant in Wembley. It has now closed. As of August 2019 the premises are occupied by a sweets and savouries shop called Shayona photo. The information below is retained for historical purposes.
Vegetarian Indian restaurant in Wembley. It seats around 70 people in casual but not scruffy surroundings. The chairs are upholstered in black pleather, and plastic tablecloths cover the tables. The floor is tiled, and the walls are white-painted and hung with various pieces of relief art. Recessed spotlights in the ceiling are interspersed with attractive modern lampshades. Kake visited on a Friday lunchtime in May 2017. There was just one other customer when I arrived a little after 1pm, but several others turned up while I was there. Music was playing, not too loud. Pani puri (£3.50 for six) photo were a bit disappointing. The puri were structurally sound, with no unwanted holes, but were also quite stale. They were pre-filled with not quite enough black chickpeas, mashed potato, and onion. The pani was fine. Chilli mushrooms (£5.50) photo were also a bit disappointing. The mushrooms themselves didn't taste of much, and the batter was already falling off most of them. The pieces of pepper interspersed with the mushrooms were nicely juicy, though. Perhaps the best of the lot were the hara bhara kababs (£4.50) photo — four small patties based on finely-chopped greens and other vegetables. They were crisp on the outside, and had an interesting slightly sour flavour, perhaps suggesting the use of amchur in the ingredients. Tap water arrived on request, in a large metal jug with a metal cup. Service was a bit hovery and faffy. Kake's verdict: I was a bit disappointed, since I've heard good things about this place. I might give them another chance if I was in the area. Accessibility: A very small step to get in, no more than an inch. No steps to the toilets, but access is a bit narrow.
