Pub in Dagenham, with real ale and interesting inter-war architecture.

The main room of the pub features traditional decor with wood panelling, decorative columns, dimpled glass, and a patterned carpet. A fruit machine, games machine, and sweet machine sit in one corner. Vintage photos of footballers are displayed on the bar gantry. There are three handpumps on the bar; two of these were in action on our February 2014 visit, offering Brakspear Bitter and Ringwood Young Scrumper.

To one side is a games room with a pool table and a large projection screen for showing sports (according to the 2012 Good Beer Guide, there's also a dartboard somewhere). This leads out to a smokers' patio and a garden with picnic benches.

Kake visited on a Sunday afternoon in February 2014. There were plenty of people in when I arrived a little after 3pm, though still several free tables. Football was showing on several flatscreens plus the large screen in the side room. A pint of lime and soda was 60p.

According to the 2012 Good Beer Guide, food is served 11:30am-2:30pm Mon-Sat and noon-3pm Sun. There's also a seafood stall (Ward's Shellfish) outside photo.

They have a function room available for hire photo of poster.

Accessibility: A step to get in. A further (large) step to the cubicles in the ladies'.
