The management at the Duke of Hamilton changed in early 2011; the pub closed for refurbishment and reopened on 1 March 2011 owned by [http://web.archive.org/web/20140105110144/http://thethreeboozers.com/ The Three Boozers] pub company. However very little changed in terms of decor (aside from a coat of paint and a new carpet), and the ambience remained the same — a proper old-style real ale pub.
There is a basement bar which can be hired.

Inside, the decor is traditional [http://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/3964457192/ photo from before the refurb], with a patterned carpet on the floor, patterned upholstered banquettes, velvet curtains with pelmets and tiebacks, and a stained-glass gantry above the bar. The only incongruous note is the large flatscreen mounted near the ceiling in one corner. There's patio seating out the front, as well as a fairly sizeable space out the back. The basement is home to [http://web.archive.org/web/20140221161437/http://www.thedukenewendtheatre.com:80/ a theatre] which is also available for hire.

There are six handpulls for ale. On [[Ewan]]'s June 2011 visit, these offered London Pride, Acorn Simcoe IPA, and two Brodies ales (California and London Fields Pale Ale), £3/pint. Some lagers were also available, including Bitburger, and they had Cotswold cider on tap. On [[Kake]]'s July 2013 visit, the ales were London Pride, Sharp's Special, Dark Star Hophead, and three from the Plain Ales brewery: Hairy Hooker (£1.75/half), Innspiration, and Inn The Sun.

On [[Ewan]]'s Saturday afternoon visit in June 2011, the place was almost empty, but did not look particularly different from how it was before the change of management. Music was playing very quietly. On [[Kake]]'s Friday afternoon visit in July 2013, there were about half a dozen people in, and more sitting outside enjoying the sun. The flatscreen was showing sport with the sound down low.

According to a poster seen in June 2011, there's a poker evening on Wednesday nights (7pm start, £5 buy-in).

Accessibility: Several steps up to get in.
