Historical version 9 of Colton Arms, W14 9SD (view current version)

Traditional pub at the end of a terrace in the no-man's-land between Fulham, Hammersmith, and West Kensington.

Note: The Colton Arms changed hands in January 2017, and so some or all of the below may be out of date. It is now owned by Hippo Inns and sells standard gastro style food.

Inside, it's small, cheerful, and very cosy, with a small main bar space in front and two little alcoves behind, one tucked away on each side of the bar. While they do have an open fire, it's a gas-fired one. There's some kind of beer garden out the back.

Kake, bob, and Dakkar visited on a Thursday evening in December 2009. Three real ales were available: Sambrooks Wandle, London Pride, and something else that we forget. Our pints were served in handled dimpled glasses, and were in good condition.

We had no trouble finding seats, since we got there pretty much at opening time, but it no doubt gets crowded at other times since it's so small. There was no music playing. The landlord was very friendly, chatting with the different groups of people who were in.

They don't do any food at all, but they do have a reasonable selection of crispy snacky things, including pork scratchings and Scampi Fries. (The takeaway menus on the bar are just for interest — this isn't a bring your own food place.)

Accessibility: Two steps up to get in. I think there were more steps to get to the back alcoves (and hence to the ladies') but I'm not entirely sure.
