Nigerian restaurant in Edmonton. They also do takeaway and delivery, with online ordering via Just Eat.

It's fairly small, seating just 42 people at tables covered with red paper cloths and decorated with cloth flowers in vases. 3D stars in red and white hang from the otherwise-utilitarian ceiling, and clocks on the wall show the time in Jamaica, London, and Nigeria. The large windows at the front let in less light than might be expected, due to overhang of the upper floors of the building.

Kake visited on a Thursday lunchtime in September 2016. Arriving around 1:30pm, I was the only customer, and indeed the staff seemed surprised to have a customer at all. Sports commentary was playing on the radio, quietly when I arrived but turned up fairly loud shortly after I got there.

Edikang ikong with rice balls and chicken (£12.50) photo was pretty good. The greens were very tasty, with a good texture, just the right amount of oiliness, and not at all watery. There was a nice warming spiciness but it wasn't overwhelmingly hot. The rice balls retained a welcome hint of texture. There were two pieces of chicken; the drumstick was flavourful and nicely balanced between tender and firm, while the other piece was a little too dry.

Service was a little nervous. Tap water arrived in a pint glass with a single rapidly-melting ice cube.

Kake's verdict: I'd like to come back and try more of the menu.

Accessibility: No steps to get in. Two steps to the toilets.
