As of May 2008 this pub has been boarded up for at least six months (albeit professionally so). It's possible that one day it might reopen as a pub, but for now it seems we have to declare the Chequers permanently closed.
As of November 2007 this pub is boarded up, though professionally so which holds out some hope that it will reopen as a pub.

Prior to its closure, it was a smallish locals pub in the old style with a public bar with lino floor, pool table, darts etc and a saloon bar with plush seats. Very friendly when visited in the past. One great thing it had going for it was its location nearly halfway up the rather steep Picardy Road if one is walking from, say, [[Belvedere Station]] to [[Locale Upper Belvedere|Upper Belvedere]].
