Three Horseshoes, N20 0RA

Pub in Whetstone.

It's divided into a number of small areas inside, distributed around the bar. The walls are wood-panelled, and the floor is also wooden. To one side is an area that looks a little like a dining room, with carnations in vases on the tables and another larger vase of flowers on the bar. There's a reasonable amount of seating at picnic benches outside; although the pub is situated on a busy junction, there are some tall wooden planters around the patio to shield drinkers from traffic.

There were two real ales available on Kake's September 2010 visit; Timothy Taylor Landlord (£1.50/half) and Greene King IPA. There were a fair few customers in when I arrived a little before 4:30pm, all in the "front" seating area by the main service part of the bar. Music was playing; pop and rock (also piped into the toilets, for some reason). Flatscreens were showing TV of some kind with the sound off.

A sign seen outside in September 2010 advertised "all sporting events shown — 6 screens"; and home cooked food noon-3pm Mon-Fri, 2pm-6pm Sat, and 1pm-6pm Sun.

Kake's verdict: It all felt a bit corporate chain/Mitchells & Butlers-ish to me, though I can't quite put my finger on why, and I can't find any info online about the owners.

Accessibility: No steps to get in, but the toilets are up a flight of stairs with a bend at the top and a handrail only part of the way up.
