The Prince was a pub in Brixton, but has now closed. The premises have since reopened under the name "Prince of Wales".

The information below is retained for historical purposes.

The site of this smart pub in Brixton has undergone quite a few changes over the years, while the KFC next door stays firmly put. The latest incarnation is as a refitted pub verging on the 'gastro' end of the scale without being completely soulless. As drinking options go in the bustling heart of Brixton this is as good a choice as any.

The Prince has plenty of space, with tables, sofas, and even some booths tucked away over a couple of levels. There is a 'beer garden' which equates to a few tables in an outdoors area, for the smokers. Music is present but fairly inobtrusive.

There is only one ale on tap, but it's Landlord. Lagers are an undistinguished range including San Miguel. There are only a handful of wines, fairly expensive at that, but drinkable.

The food menu, however, is fairly extensive and includes vegetarian options. Breakfast/brunch (served until 6pm), lunchtime and dinner are catered for, and although the service can be a bit slow (on the bar as on the food), the results are perfectly tasty. Food is served noon-10pm Monday to Friday, and 11am-10pm Saturday and Sunday.

The place also seems to put on DJs at the weekends, and its menus also mention a "private members club" though can't be sure what that entails. Monday is advertised as a curry night, and Tuesday as 2-for-1 on steaks and burgers.
