Lilly's, SM7 1RN

Lilly's was a cafe and gift shop in Nork. It closed down in mid-2018, with Lilly's Twitter account reporting that "Lilly’s Coffee Shop has closed. The new owners have reopened as Lilly's Coffee Boutique."

The information below is retained for historical purposes.

Cafe and gift shop in Nork.

It's quite small, seating only about 15 people inside and a couple more outside under the overhang of the first floor. The decor is charming without being twee. Vinyl tablecloths cover the tables, printed with polka dots and butterflies, and a plethora of different lampshades hang from the ceiling. A feature wall is papered with illustrations of bookshelves, and a couple of actual bookshelves next to it hold a small book swap station (bring one, take one).

Kake, Kat, and Ewan visited on a Wednesday lunchtime in August 2017. It was almost full when we arrived around 12:30pm, and we just managed to squeeze onto a table already part-occupied by someone else. It emptied out fairly rapidly afterwards, though, and by 1pm there were spare tables. Music was playing on the radio, very quietly.

Kake's brie and cranberry sandwich (£2.30) photo was fine, and served with a properly-dressed side salad. As well as a choice of white or brown bread, I was asked if I'd prefer doorstep or thinner cut. (The thinner-cut brown turned out to actually be granary.)

A pot of tea (£2) was served in a polka-dot teapot with a delicate gold-rimmed cup photo, and they were happy to brew it to our rather exacting specifications.

Service was friendly and helpful.

Child-friendliness: According to their website as of August 2017, children are welcome but prams and pushchairs are not allowed inside the cafe.

Accessibility: No steps to get in. The toilet is through the kitchen; again no steps, but the access is a bit narrow.
