This category describes shops selling recorded music (as opposed to instruments -- for that, see Music Shops). This means albums, singles or compilations - whether on vinyl (LP, 12", 10", 7"), CD or other formats. Most shops now carry vinyl as well as CDs, as it has seen a resurgence in recent years after a period of decline following the introduction of CDs in the mid-1980s.
These shops will often also stock a range of DVDs (both movies and music). Individual entries will note whether they carry primarily new or second-hand stock (or both).
The best bet for second-hand music is the chain of Music & Video Exchange shops, based primarily on Notting Hill Gate. Flashback Records are also very good, having a broad range, and two shops. For older records and vinyl, Haggle Vinyl or the shops on Hanway Street have extensive ranges, but searching through them can be frustrating.
